Clearing Energy in Your Living & Work Space
Did you know that our environments deeply impact our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being? Just as we wash ourselves daily, it’s equally essential to cleanse the energy of our living and work spaces. Energetic debris from stress, negativity, or stagnation can accumulate, leading to feelings of heaviness or imbalance.
Why Clear Energy?
Promotes Clarity: Releases stagnant energy, improving focus and mental sharpness.
Restores Balance: Creates a harmonious space for relaxation, creativity, and productivity.
Enhances Well-being: Encourages positive vibrations, reducing stress and anxiety.
Amplifies Intentions: Cleansed spaces are more receptive to manifesting your goals.
Benefits of Energy Clearing
- Boosts mood and overall vitality.
- Strengthens the connection to your inner self.
- Improves the flow of creativity and inspiration.
- Enhances sleep quality and relaxation.
Methods for Clearing Energy
Here are some of my favourite methods for clearing energy:-
1. Saging (Smudging):
Use white sage or palo santo to cleanse spaces of any negative or stagnant energy. Light the bundle, let the smoke waft through corners, and say a mantra and /or set an intention (e.g., βI release all stagnant energy and invite peaceβ).
2. Incense:
Incense such as sandalwood, frankincense, or myrrh has purifying properties. Burn during meditation or work to uplift the spaceβs energy.
3. Crystals:
Black Tourmaline: Absorbs negativity and protects the space.
Clear Quartz: Amplifies positive energy and intentions.
Selenite: Cleanses and recharges energy fields.
Place crystals in key areas or use them as a grid for protection.
4. Salt:
Sprinkle salt around entryways or windows to absorb negative energy.
Place bowls of Himalayan or sea salt in corners for 24 hours to cleanse the space. Dispose of the salt the next day.
I also love to use Himalayan salt lamps, which also emanate a beautiful soft glow when they are on.
5. Mantras and Sound:
Chanting sacred mantras such as “Om”, “Gayatri Mantra” or “Moola Mantra” can raise the vibration of your space. Alternatively, use sound bowls, bells, or clapping to break up stagnant energy.
6. Lighting an Oil Lamp (Diya):
Light a lamp with ghee and a cotton wick. It symbolises purity and positivity, increasing sattva (energy of peace & harmony) attracting divine energy into your home or workspace.
7. House Plants:
Plants such as peace lilies, aloe vera, ferns and snake plants naturally cleanse the air and bring vitality to your space.
8. Essential Oils and Aromatherapy:
Diffuse oils such as lavender, eucalyptus, frankincense or lemongrass to clear energy and create a soothing atmosphere.
How Often Should I Cleanse My Space?
– Daily if not weekly for maintenance.
– After emotional turbulence, illness, or arguments.
– Before and after hosting guests.
– Whenever you feel heavy or stuck energy.
In India it is normal to perform cleansing rituals first thing in the morning and at sunset, every day. The natural transition from night to day and day to night and associated changes brings about its own energy which can allow unwanted energies to enter… The cleansing practices purify as well as protect the space and help maintain peace, harmony and balance throughout these times.
Regularly clearing energy creates a sanctuary of calm and positivity. Your environment becomes a reflection of your inner peace, supporting your holistic well-being.
Energetically Cleansing Yourself: Why Itβs Essential
Just like our living and work spaces, we absorb and carry energy from people, places, and situations. Over time, this energetic build-up can leave us feeling drained, overwhelmed, or stuck. Energetically cleansing ourselves is an essential practice to restore balance, protect our aura, and maintain a positive vibration.
Why Do We Need to Cleanse Ourselves Energetically?
Release Energetic Residue: Daily interactions can leave us carrying emotions or energy that arenβt ours.
Prevent Burnout: Removes heaviness or stress before it builds up.
Reclaim Your Energy: Creates boundaries and strengthens your connection to your inner self.
Stay Balanced: Promotes emotional and spiritual harmony, especially during challenging times.

2. Smudging:
Pass the smoke of white sage, incense or palo santo around your body from head to toe, setting an intention to release negativity and invite peace.
3. Crystals for Personal Cleansing:
Carry black tourmaline or smoky quartz for protection.
Use selenite to “comb” your aura, removing energetic debris.
4. Mantras and Affirmations:
Recite affirmations or chants such as:

5. Visualisation:
Close your eyes and imagine a white or golden light surrounding you, clearing away all negativity and filling you with radiant energy.

7. Essential Oils and Aromatherapy:
Apply grounding oils like frankincense and patchouli or cleansing oils such as lemon, eucalyptus or palo santo to your pulse points. (ensure you dilute with a carrier oil such as coconut, sesame, or almond oil.Β Never apply neat essential oils directly to the skin.
8. Meditation and Breathwork:
Practice mindful breathing to release stagnant energy.
Try alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) to harmonise your energy channels, while balancing solar & lunar energies.
Meditation naturally helps to raise and expand our energetic vibration, clearing our auric field and balancing energies.
9. Earthing or Nature Connection:
Spend time barefoot on grass, sand, or soil. Nature is a powerful healer that absorbs negative energy and replenishes your spirit.
10. Lighting an Oil Lamp (Diya):
Sit quietly near a lit ghee lamp while focusing on its warm glow. This ancient practice invites divine energy into your personal space.
How Often Should I Cleanse?
Daily for light maintenance (e.g., breathwork or visualisation).
Weekly with deeper rituals (e.g., salt baths or smudging).
After stressful events, emotional interactions, or when feeling “off.”
Energetic cleansing is not just about removing negativityβitβs about nurturing your energy field, protecting your well-being, and creating space for love, joy, creativity, peace, wellbeing and inspiration to flow freely.
